This year be ready and creative to surprise her with something else than the traditional presents. We give you some ideas for this Mother’s Day to give the gift of comfort.

• Install a new smart thermostat: Smart Thermostats are more accurate and can help lower her energy bills. A good idea is also to set it back 7-10 degrees for 8 hours a day to save up to 10% on energy. Here’s a good video from the Department of Energy.
• Change HVAC Filters: in order to keep your home cool and healthy you need to change air filters regularly. Use the highest quality filters you can and write down the date you changed. Lifespan of filters go from 30 to 90 days, but also depends on many factors. Check it regularly.
• Examine Attic Insulation: Insulation works as a shield, making a barrier between the hot external air and the cooled indoor air. If insulation is poor or defective the indoor air will be of a very bad quality and also will make her system overwork. Check it often.
• Clean outdoor HVAC unit: Is not enough to give proper maintenance to the inside unit of your system. You have to take good care of the external one. The procedure is very simple: just remove all debris with your hands (please wear gloves) and run a water hose down the sides of each unit to give them a quick clean.
